OVERVIEW
Map Textile Traditions of Norway

Morocco is a country that dazzles through its hands. In the ancient dye houses and weaving studios, the spice-laden market stalls and restored palace workshops, color and craft are not traditions preserved behind glass - they are alive, practiced daily, and generously shared with those who come curious.

This 12-day journey moves through five distinct cities — Casablanca, Marrakech, Fez, Chefchaouen, and Rabat — each with its own creative identity and its own stories woven into every wall, market, and artisan's studio. You'll try your hand at embroidery with remarkable women artisans, craft intricate knotted buttons in Sefrou, and begin your own small carpet weaving under the guidance of Moroccan weavers. Between workshops, you'll lose yourself in spice markets, ancient walled cities, and the famously blue-washed streets of Chefchaouen.

Whether you're a fiber artist, a dedicated maker, or simply someone who finds the world more beautiful when seen through the lens of craft, this journey offers an insider's perspective on a country where textile traditions run centuries deep and still feel utterly alive.

HIGHLIGHTS

Hands-on Workshops

Embroider alongside the women of Al Nour in Marrakech, craft intricate knotted buttons with a women's co-op in Sefrou, and create your own small carpet weaving in Fez. You'll leave each workshop with a personal piece and a craft story to tell.

Souks of Marrakech and Fez

No photograph does the Dyers' Souk justice - skeins of freshly dyed yarn hanging in brilliant curtains above steaming colored vats, the air thick with pigment and inspiration. The spice markets, tanneries, and silk weaving studios that follow are equally arresting.

ancient cities, palaces & monuments

Bahia Palace in Marrakech, the golden Royal Palace of Fez, the Roman ruins of Volubilis, and the spectacular Hassan II Mosque on the edge of the Atlantic. History and beauty at every turn.

Chefchaouen

A full day in the famous blue-washed mountain town, made for wandering, photographing, and hunting for locally made textiles in the most photogenic streets you've ever seen.

Moroccan Flavors

A hands-on cooking class in a restored Fez palace. Welcome and farewell dinners. And the kind of mint tea that makes you want to sit still for an hour.
