This 12-day journey moves through Japan at the finest moment of the year, when cherry blossoms soften city streets and mountain paths, and spring festivals fill the air with music, color, and centuries of living tradition. From the fabric shops and textile workshops of Tokyo, through the historic mountain town of Takayama during its legendary spring festival, into the refined craft culture of Kanazawa, and on to the temple gardens, artisan studios, and dyer's workshops of Kyoto, this tour is designed for travelers who want to experience Japan’s textile traditions with their hands while the country is a feast for the eyes.
Whether you’re drawn to the workshops in shibori dyeing, gold leaf, roketsu wax-resist, and sashiko stitching, or by the prospect of walking a warmly welcoming castle town dressed in cherry blossoms while a 300-year-old festival fills the streets, this tour offers a rare combination of craft depth, cultural access, and seasonal beauty that only comes around once a year.
The tour begins with a welcome dinner on Day 1, Sunday, Apr 11 in Tokyo. The tour ends after breakfast at leisure on Day 12, Thursday, Apr 12 in Kyoto.
