OVERVIEW 

The Quilting and Hidden Textile Treasures of Japan TourMap UK Textile Tour is a 13-day immersive experience exploring Japan’s rich textile heritage, contemporary practices, and cultural landmarks. You’ll engage in hands-on workshops with skilled artisans, learning traditional techniques such as Roketsu dyeing, Washi Paper making, and Temari embroidery. The tour also includes visits to iconic landmarks like Kyoto’s Kinkakuji Temple, Fushimi Inari Shrine, Kanazawa’s Kenrokuen Garden, and the Miho Museum. Alongside textile experiences, you'll have opportunities to explore local markets and enjoy a special visit to the Janome Factory in Tokyo. The journey provides a perfect balance of textile education, cultural exploration, and hands-on experience.

The tour starts at 6 pm on Day 1 Monday November 10th at Hotel Century Southern Tower in Tokyo. The tour ends after breakfast on Day 13 Saturday November 22nd, at Hotel Century Southern Tower in Tokyo.

KIMBERLY EINMO

Kimberly Einmo is an international author, award-winning quilter, fabric designer, and has served as a quilt show judge for more than twenty-five years. But one of her highest honors is to represent Janome-America as their National Spokesperson. Kimberly has written six best-selling books, all published by the American Quilter’s Society, and she wrote the popular Stray Threads column, in American Quilter Magazine, for almost a decade. Currently, she designs fabrics for Benartex Fabrics and Timeless Treasures Fabrics. Kimberly has developed and manufactures a signature line of Precision Quilting Rulers, and she is also a Featured Artist for the Electric Quilt Company.
A proud military wife and mother of two grown sons, Kimberly is a respected and prominent leader in the quilting industry. She and her husband, fondly known in the quilting world as “Mr. Kim,” live with four rescue kitties and one pampered pup outside of Denver, Colorado. They both love to travel and meet sewing enthusiasts from all walks of life around the world!

SUSAN CLEVELAND

Known for her enthusiasm and clever solutions to quilting's tricky tasks, Susan Cleveland enjoys meeting quilters and teaching her techniques internationally. Her quilts have received eight awards at International Quilt Festivals in Houston and many other prestigious shows. Her books, tools, magazine articles, TV shows, and internet classes have been making quilting’s challenges more manageable for 20 years. Susan’s classes on Bluprint/Craftsy are among the most popular as they inspire quilters throughout the world.
